V21 Upgrade Reminder: Plan & Book Now
September 13, 2021
September 13, 2021
Version 21 is now available, currently in release v21.2.
Now is a great time to book in your V21 upgrade with our team. Information in our customer portal under our Product Updates section will assist you to prepare your health service and clinicians for this upgrade. This is a significant upgrade in terms of enhanced medications workflows and requires some preparation for configuration changes and training.
From March next year, only V21 will be supported and only v21.3 (currently pending for end of October release) will be able to interact with Services Australia to support your Medicare claims and Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) activities Hence, it is very important that you have a plan for transitioning to V21.3 release, before 13 March 2022.
It is recommended that you consider the transition from V19.2 to V21 now, certainly before December 2021, so that you have plenty of time to prepare new workflows, train your prescribing clinicians, and take advantage of the new features, like the upgraded SMS feature. Your System Administrator will also need training and potentially support from our Communicare team to ensure that they are empowered to configure the new release to support your medication, recall and other workflows that may change.
The transition to V21.2 is significant and will require preparation, training and considered change management. Whereas once this transition is complete, the next move to V21.3 will be minor and should have minimal implications for users and workflows. If you delay your transition to V21, during the post Christmas shutdown period, you will have less preparation and training time and will be confined by the March deadline for transition to the V21.3 upgrade that supports the Services Australia authentication changes.
The checklist within the Introduction to Communicare V21.1 brochure is the best resource to better understand the changes and how to prepare for this upgrade. You can also download the latest demo version and Release Notes to experience the new workflows and changes directly. Additional support resources, like the introduction videos and eLearning materials, are available via the Communicare LMS.
We encourage you to take this step now to V21. If you require support to prepare for the upgrade, either consultation or training, please reach out by submitting a ticket to the Communicare Service Desk.
If you have reviewed the checklist, updated your workflows and training with your clinical team; and are ready to upgrade please submit a ticket to the Communicare Service Desk to request an upgrade. Should you wish to discuss any clinical implications for your team or require assistance, please contact our Clinical Safety and Services Manager, Yvonne Zardins via email, yvonne.zardins@health.telstra.com
