Communicare Administrators can tune the way in which Communicare works at your health clinic using the configuration, tools and task information.

    If you belong to the System Administrators user group, you can configure Communicare by setting system parameters.

    Configure Communicare for your organisation by setting organisation parameters. Changes to organisation parameters affect the Communicare system for the organisation and all workstations.

      Use the Investigations tab to configure parameters for investigations to enable workers without a provider number to request investigations.

    Users of the Communicare system are organised into groups. Rights to access various parts of Communicare are given to these groups of users.

    The address book stores local address book entries and address book entries that are linked to external directory services.

    Appointment Session Templates identify when appointments can be made, in a general way. They are used as a template for creating the sessions into which appointments are actually booked.

    Backups of your Communicare database are critical for business continuity in the event of a disaster. Communicare is automatically backed up to the server nightly. Your site should take regular backups of these backups.

Organisation Maintenance

Configure Communicare for your organisation by setting organisation parameters. Changes to organisation parameters affect the Communicare system for the organisation and all workstations.

Warning: Disabling organisation parameters may result in existing patient data becoming inaccessible. However, the data remains in the database. Organisation parameters should only be changed by knowledgeable people, such as Communicare Administrators. Changing organisation parameters may mean that functions described in the online help are not available at your installation.

To change organisation parameters:

Select File > Organisation Maintenance.
Select the organisation you want to modify and double-click it.
Update the required parameters.
Click Save.
In the Enter Authority Code window, enter your authority code and click OK. Because of the extensive and serious consequences that changes to organisation parameters can cause, this code is only provided to Communicare Administrators who should not share it.
